Dear Weight Watchers...

... In almost all ways, you are a fantastic program. I appreciate all the things that you do to allow people who are working to lose weight to eat as close to normally as possible. We have had WW in our lives for the last year, and have had lots of success.

That said, I have a concern with your Gnocchi with Pesto recipe. Low fat or not, you cannot make a pesto sauce with two tablespoons of water instead of the traditional oil. I know; I tried. And it tastes like sand.

And life is too damn short to eat sandy gnocchi.

Word.

besides olive oil is full of MUFA, indescribably good for a person. Reminds me of the recommendation to use apple-sauce instead of oil in one's cooking...my comment that it wasn't much use if you were frying chicken was NOT gratefully received.

Pesto without olive oil?!?!?

..that's just wrong.

olive oil is from the gods, and completely necessary in certain situations.

I'm saying eeww just reading that. I can't even imagine the taste.

It's not as if olive oil is an unhealthy food that would derail your diet so I don't understand the need to eliminate an essential ingredient from pesto. It seems it would make more since to change it to a gnocchi with anything but water pesto recipe.
